(Translation in progress… google translation for now) :\

The day started earlier than usual simply anticipate the output in half an hour to still be night. As we had to travel 16 km along the road and step would be long, we decided to get up early to escape the heat.

I said goodbye to José Luis and Frank and I left with Emilio and Peter, Spanish, longtime friends, and Doriano, Italian who had joined them from the start in Seville.

First of 3 new companions proved friendly and great fun, making the miles pass without notice. He knew in advance that had a more up-tempo, so thought would soon to continue to its normal rhythm. The truth is that the environment was so nice that grew to accompany me, and fortunately, my feet were going to collaborate and could walk fairly well. In this phase of the championship, my biggest problem was the physical soles. Moreover, everything was fine, normal fatigue and muscle to give sign, but everything just right and after the rest of the day, was like new. The “soles” is that he could not say the same …

Well, before you get to the Natural Park, there is a great line always going up and once again, I thought that would be the time to say goodbye. They were watching and, in a way, admired by manage to get a good last (“good” for me, not comparable with third parties). I was also surprised, but how would check along the route to Compostela, the increases have become my strong point, because it was where the feet complained less and gave me relief to walk at will! Thus, we come together to Natural Park Berrocales them, with a change of fantastic scenery! There, we decided to take a break for lunch and a little rest and the choice could not have been better! Are precious Km, with landscapes that nourish the spirit. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful and great company!

By this time the heat already squeezed and we knew that we would still have the “ascent to Calvary” by a mile, as indicated guide. As we were walking and saw a hill in the distance, came the speculation would be that way that the path would follow …. it was better to wait and see! We have reached a point where we saw ahead a fork, but still could not distuinguir by which side would be the way. Left a less sharp rise and shorter, right a well-sloping hill. Were made bets, Emilio and Peter more than betting wanted the left, Doriano, more cautious bets and I did not bet on the right. Along the way, if there are 2 options, will always handy to worse, thought for me … said and done!

Started up .. slowly, steadily, the 3 Stooges followed ahead and agreed we would meet up there, came when he arrived. The heat pressed, it was almost the end of step, but this had been long, tiredness already seized me and my refuge was thinking “just one more step, now another step” and when caught a tree, took advantage of his shadow for a moment. Was going distracted with these basic thoughts, almost coming to a curve in which went the way, when I look to see the stuff that followed and I find myself with a cow, which emerged from the woods to stare at me. Now, try to mentally review safety procedures in relation to cows. You can pass quietly for them? Could use my safety whistle to call others? Because I never gave attention to these issues that now I could be useful? In the National Geogrphic / Wildlife appear only animals that most of us will never face that useless! The road was relatively narrow for us both and did not feel like spending too close to her. “PEDROOOOOOOO, EMILIOOOOOOOOOO” … .. Nothing should ever be away. Good, I stop to see the decision that the cow will take, if it comes down, has plenty of room to pass and I still quietly, if up, someone will have to go ahead. Decides to go up, well, I will behind her at a safe distance. In fact, was going about the same pace than before, but now think that was going slowly because he had the cow ahead and not because he had no breath to go faster, gave childishly, another mood. I begin to hear my companions in mild prattle which means that Calvary is ending. They get to see the cow to go and then I appear to wave .. not even worth asking why it took me so …

The view from the top of the hill, 560 meters above sea level, is beautiful and we took advantage of this scenario to a more prolonged and new snack break. If the climb was costly, the decline did not help but see Almaden de la Plata right there was enough to give the necessary energy and come to fruition.

In the hostel we ended up staying in a 4 bedroom plus conversation and good mood! What a wonderful day!

Final thoughts: For Emilio, Peter and Doriano, would have been much easier to have followed their own rythm, much more quickly than mine. The fact that they have decided to continue to side by side with me, also having shorter time at the end of the day, for me, made all the difference. The day would have been certainly pleasant, at least due the beautiful landscape, but until now it’s a special memorable day because of them. As I never take anything for granted, I feel very GRATEFUL to have met them!
